Bits of Ireland in September

Harvest time in Ireland...a beautiful time to visit. Here are a few photos from my trip last month...

There's an incredible, open-to-the-public apple orchard at the Ardress House in County Armagh. I visited there with some good friends I've made through Instagram who arranged an InstaMeet one weekend in September. I could've spent all day just in the orchard, taking photos...best of all I was with people who completely understood that {and wanted to do the same}!

The blackberries were in full swing. Like little gems in the hedgerows.

Even the carrots look healthier, heartier in Ireland...

fallen red and green apples

Do you notice how there appear to be two types of apples in this photo? These all fell from the same tree...which was actually two trees that had been grafted together. Something I'd not seen before. The lower part of the tree produced green {Bramley} apples, while the top produced red apples.

peas and pea pod

Peas from the garden...we often eat them right out of the pod.

I think I will soon have a post entirely filled with apple photos...

blackberries

and blackberry recipes....

I tried my hand at a home made pork pie {right}...we really enjoyed it and although I think it could use some fine tuning, I'll be making it again {and hopefully sharing here}.

Come again...I'll have more photos to share soon!

What beautiful produce and beautiful photos, Elizabeth. Just makes me want to eat a bel of apple and blackberry crumble, especially as its freezing today.
